P. Maurine French, 88, of Arlington died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Funeral services were held Jan. 2, 2001, at the Arlington Community Church with the Rev. Lynn Martin officiating. Interment was at the Arlington Cemetery.

P. Maurine French was born Feb. 10, 1912, at Battle Creek, Neb., to Richard and Martha (Baas) Black. She moved with her family to Madison at the age of six, and then moved to Arlington in 1930.

She graduated from Enola, Neb. High School in 1929. On Oct. 26, 1930, she married Clarence French at West Point.

Mrs. French worked at Marshall Nursery for four years and then at Fred’s Café for six years. She retired in 1966. She was a member of the Arlington Community Church.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Dottie French of Blair, and Jaryl and Marlene French of Arlington, four daughters and sons-in-law, Anita and Joe Pelisek of Lincoln, Gayle and Les Otteman of Chandler, Ariz., Sandra Wieser of South Sioux City, and Karen and Jack Myers of Fremont, a sister, Helen Black of Madison, 22 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Clarence, a brother, Irvin Black and one grandson.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
