9 Aug., 1934 - The Enterprise

Cassius Marion Spiker was born in Washington County on Sept. 15, 1872 and died at his home seven miles southwest of Herman at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 20 days.

He is the second son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Spiker, deceased, who were among the early pioneers of this community. As a small child, he spent his early life in a small dugout which few of us left remember. Later he moved with his parents into a frame dwelling where he spent his boyhood days.

On July 1, 1908 he was united in marriage to Addie Neff.

Immediately thereafter he moved to his present home where he resided until his death.

He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife and four children, Lloyd E., LeRoy, Chester and one daughter, Mrs. Nellie Taylor. Cecil M. died in infancy. He also leaves one sister, Mabel Benjamin of Polk, Nebr. and four brothers, Thaddeus of Sidney, Nebr., Samuel of Long Pine, Nebr., Eugene of Fort Collins, Colo., and Manning of Portland, Oregon.

On June 29 he submitted to a major operation from which he never recovered. He was a patient sufferer until death claimed him. He was an honest, peaceful citizen, a kind neighbor and a devoted husband and father.
