MRS. J. F. BURCHAM RITES HELD TUES.

Mrs. J. F. Burcham, after an illness of about seven years’ duration, passed away last Sunday evening at 9:15, a victim of heart trouble and diabetes.

Lucy M. Rhoades was born in Atchison county, Missouri May 26, 1871 and was thus past seventy one years at her death. With her parents, she lived in Harrison county, Iowa for a term of years, and with the family moved to Blair March 1st, 1879.

In July, 1886 she was married to J. F. Burcham, and they established a home in Blair where their entire married life of forty eight years was spent. To this union four children were born, all of whom are still living and who, with the bereaved husband, did all that was humanly possible to make her last days as comfortable as possible and who grieve deeply her passing.

Mrs. Burcham was a woman of high Christian character and made a large circle of friends by her kindly, patient personality, and all join with the family in their great grief.

Those of the immediate family are the husband, J. F. Burcham, and the children, Mrs. John Anderson and Mrs. William Carter, both of Omaha and John M. and Fred O. Burcham of Blair, also two brothers, James A. and John A. Rhodes of Blair and two sisters, Mrs. William M. Barnhart of Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Fred Oliver of Omaha.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 from this Christian church of which she was a devout member with Rev. H. Souder officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Thus closes a life of unselfish devotion to those whom she loved, of high ideals and a real practical Christian living which but few of us attain, but which would do well to emulate in our every day living.
