DEATH CLAIMS OLD PIONEER

Henry C. Close, 82, for many years a resident of Arlington, and a pioneer farmer of that vicinity, died on Saturday morning at the home of his son, Raymond, with whom he has been living the past year since the death of his wife.

Mr. Close was born November 25, 1851 in Wisconsin, and came to Arlington with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Close in 1866. They lived on the farm where the son, Raymond now lives, and it was here Mr. Close, when a young lad, helped his father plant what was known as “Lone Tree”. The tree was an old time landmark, and was widely known. Last year it was ordered cut down because it endangered traffic on the Lone Tree road. Funeral services were held on Tuesday at the Arlington M. E. church with Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen officiating. One son, Raymond Close and one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Matson of California survive.
