FONTANELLE WOMAN PASSES SUDDENLY

Mrs. Otto Langhorst Descendent of Pioneer Family Died Sat

Mrs. Otto Langhorst, 59, a lifelong resident of Fontanelle, died at her home there at 4 o’clock Saturday morning. Although she had been in poor health for a number of years, her death was sudden, occurring within two months after the death of her brother, A.W. Sprick.

Emma Sprick, born November 24, 1874, was a daughter of the late Honorable Henry Sprick, a pioneer of the county who settled in Fontanelle in 1856, and who was prominent in the early history of Fontanelle.

Deceased was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in early childhood and was active in church work throughout her life. She attended the Fremont Normal college for a short time, being compelled to stop because of ill health. She was married to Otto Langhorst September 9, 1902 at Fontanelle. Five children were born to the couple, one, Irma, dying at birth.

Surviving are the husband and four children, Mrs. Marian Ruwe, Mrs. Mildred Kruse, Margaret and Gerald, all of Fontanelle; five grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Mary Sick of Fremont, Mrs. Sophia Krueger of Tuckahoe, N.Y., and Mrs. Clara Roth of Quincy, Ill.

The funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 1:45 from the home and at 2 o’clock from the Fontanelle church with Rev. Moehring officiating, and the interment was made in the Fontanelle cemetery.
