MRS. LENA HINZ SUCCOMBS ILLNESS

Mrs. Lena Hinz, another old settler of Washington county, answered the last call last Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Ohrt, who resides west of Fort Calhoun. Four years ago she suffered a stroke, and last fall she had a bad fall and since that time she has failed rapidly.

Mrs. Hinz was born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany November 29, 1858, and came to Omaha when thirteen years of age, and since that time she has made Washington and Douglas counties her home.

She was married in 1878 to the late Christian Hinz who died in 1897. After her marriage she resided on a farm in the southern part of the county, but later moved to the farm now occupied by her son, Chris. In 1903 she lived with a son in Omaha, and since last fall with her daughter, Mrs. George Ohrt.

She is survived by her sons, Chris of Blair and William of Omaha and her two daughters, Mrs. Peter Schmidt of Saum, Minn., and Mrs. George Ohrt of this county.

Funeral services are to be held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Presbyterian church in Fort Calhoun, and interment will be made in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.

MOTHER OF COUNTY COMMISSIONER HINZ PASSED AWAY TUESDAY

In ill health since she suffered a stroke four years ago, and suffering from a fall she experienced last autumn, Mrs. Lena Hinz, 75, mother of County Commissioner Chris Hinz of Blair, died Tuesday morning in Fort Calhoun at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Ohrt.

She had lived in Nebraska since 1874, but had resided in Fort Calhoun since last fall.

Born in Schleswig Holstein, Germany, November 29, 1858, she came to Omaha when 15 years old. Since that time she had lived continuously in either Douglas or Washington counties.

In 1878 she was married to Christian Hinz, and the couple lived for some time on a farm near the Wranch school, and later in Blair township. In 1903, six years after the death of her husband, Mrs. Hinz moved to Omaha to live with a son. She remained there until last fall.

Surviving are two sons, Chris of Blair and William of Omaha; and two daughters, Mrs. George Ohrt of Fort Calhoun and Mrs. Peter Schmidt of Saum, Minnesota.

Funeral services are being held this afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian church. Interment will be in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
