H. L. STRUVE AGE 74 DIES

Rites Held Sunday For an Early Day Carpenter Here

Henry Ladwig Struve, pioneer Blair carpenter, died about 11:00 o’clock Thursday night at his residence on east Colfax street, following an illness of several years, the immediate cause of his death, however, being a slight stroke of paralysis suffered eight days before he died. His condition had been critical since the stroke.

Born in Germany, Mr. Struve was impressed with the opportunities offered by America, and as a youth of 20 he emigrated alone to this country, locating at first at Davenport, Iowa. A short time later he came to Blair, and since 1883 he had been a resident of this county, all of the time in Blair save for a short period of residence in Arlington, where he followed his trade as a carpenter. Mr. Struve had worked on scores of buildings both in Blair and Arlington.

Funeral services were held from the family home at 2:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. L. W. Gramly, pastor of St. Mary’s Episcopal church, officiating. Burial was in the Blair cemetery.

Surviving are his widow and five children, one son and four daughters. They are: Otto Struve of Fremont, Mrs. Clifford Krause, Mrs. Louie Soll and Misses Katherine and Grace, all of Blair.
