GEORGE STIMPSON RITES MONDAY

Victim of a heart attack, George Stimpson, resident of the Blair vicinity for nearly 55 years, died Saturday morning in the Gilbertson grocery store where he had been taken after collapsing on the sidewalk in front of the store. Mr. Stimpson’s son, Arthur, had brought the aged man to Blair a short time before, and he had apparently been in the best of health, joking and talking as they came into town. The son was not advised of his father’s death until he had returned home.

Mr. Stimpson had farmed in the Blair region, and had been a laborer within town throughout the greater part of his residence here. For several months he had lived at the Billy Gray home near the Missouri river, although he had visited his son’s home frequently, merely saying that Mr. Gray, who is a cripple, needed company and that he was only too glad to spend a part of his time with him.

Numbered among the survivors are three children, George, known to Blair residents as “Peeler” who at present is at the Veteran’s administration home at Lincoln, Arthur and Mrs. Charles Bottorf of Blair. A brother of Mr. Stimpson’s died some time ago.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the Methodist church, and interment in the Kennard cemetery.

Note: Census records have his name recorded as Benjamin. His children are George, Arthur and Eleanor. I believe the name George is a misprint in the newspaper obituary.
