EDGAR N. BOWLES IS DEAD AT 74

Edgar N. Bowles, 74, retired superintendent of the dead parcel division of the Omaha post office, died last Wednesday of pneumonia at his home, 2801 Bristol street, after being in failing health in recent months.

Mr. Bowles entered postal service in 1891. In 1912, when the dead parcel division was founded, he became its head until he retired in 1932.

An Omahan 54 years, he was a member of Covert Lodge No. 11, Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons; the Scottish Rite and the Woodmen Circle.

Survivors: wife, Daisy; stepson, Theodore Beldin; sisters, Mrs. Belle McClure, Chicago; and Mrs. Minnie Becker, Omaha; brother, Harry Bowles and a nephew, Walter Becker, Omaha.

Funeral services were held last Friday at 2 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Cathedral in charge of Covert lodge. Burial was at the Blair cemetery, Blair, Nebraska.

The above clipped from the Omaha paper speaks of the death of the husband of a former Washington county woman, Mrs. Bowles was formerly Miss Daisy Cachelin, the daughter of the late Urbin Cachelin, and also a former popular Washington county teacher.
