ERNEST SPRICK, ROSE HILL FARMER, DIES SUDDENLY

Highly Respected Citizen of Rose Hill Vicinity Died October 5

Ernest Sprick, highly respected citizen and farmer of the Rose Hill school district, died suddenly last Thursday evening, October 5th.

Mr. Sprick had been in his usual good health, and his death was a shock not alone to his family, but to the entire community where he had lived for so many years and where he had won the respect of all for his clean, honorable life and his gentlemanly bearing.

Deceased was born in Germany December 11, 1867. When a young man he left his native land and came to America in 1886, coming first to Illinois. He remained in Illinois until February, 1888 when with a cousin he came to Nebraska. He obtained work with relatives and continued in their employ until in the fall of 1890 when he returned to the land of his nativity for a visit.

The following spring he returned to this country and brought a brother with him.

On March 1, 1893 he was united in marriage to Miss Louise Neiderkruger, the late Rev. Christian Sick performing the ceremony, and they became members of the St. John’s Lutheran church of Vacoma where they always took an active part in the work and support of their church. Mr. Sprick served for years on the church board and his life throughout was of the highest type of Christianity.

One son, Albert, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Sprick. The wife passed on the 28th day of September, 1932, and since then he has made his home with his son.

Last Thursday he was in Blair; that evening while caring for his stock death came, and thus ended a life which had been exemplary in every way and one well worth of emulation.

Besides the son and family he leaves his brother, Herman of Herman, Nebraska, all of whom feel their great loss.

The body was brought to the Bendorf Funeral Home.

The funeral was held at the St. Johns Lutheran church Sunday. The church was filled to overflowing, and the Rev. Willard W. Alexander officiated, aided by a quartette from the Grace Lutheran church, and interment was made in the St. Johns cemetery.
