EDWARD LUDWIG RITES OCTOBER 3

Funeral rites for Edward Ludwig of Omaha, formerly of Arlington, were conducted in the Arlington Methodist church Tuesday afternoon, October 3rd, with Rev. David Simpson in charge. Therlo Reckmeyer, accompanied by Mrs. Alice Newcom, sang “The End of a Perfect Day”, and a quartet composed of Rev. Simpson, Mrs. Carl Keller, Mrs. George Ludwig and Therlo Reckmeyer sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Will There Be Any Stars in My Crown”. The rostrum was banked with the many floral tributes sent by Mr. Ludwig’s many friends in the Arlington vicinity.

Edward Ludwig was born in Bushnell, Illinois on September 19th, 1859, and came to Arlington when seventeen years of age. In his early years in Washington County he gained an enviable reputation as a baseball player. By trade he was a mason, and later he and his wife were proprietors of the Nelson House for a number of years; in 1892 they moved to Fremont and later to Omaha.

Besides his wife, Mr. Ludwig is survived by three children, Lyle of North Platte, Floyd of Omaha and Mrs. John Carmody of Lawrence. Two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Simms of Chicago, Illinois and Mrs. Amelia Baker of Sturgis, South Dakota, also survive.

Interment was made in the Arlington cemetery.
