PIONEER SETTLER OF COUNTY DIES IN MISSOURI

Daughter of L. M. Kline, Prominent in County’s Early History

Mrs. C. A Dixon, formerly of Blair, died Sunday morning, April 23, 1939 after a short illness. She had been living with her daughter, Mrs. A. N. Lund of Branson, Missouri.

Mrs. Dixon, formerly Miss Samantha Elizabeth Kline, was born at Kanesville, now Council Bluffs, Iowa September 6, 1851. She was the daughter of Lewis M. Kline, a prominent member of the territorial legislature and printer of the first Nebraska newspaper.

Mrs. Dixon attended school at Blair, Nebraska and Fairfield, Iowa, where she studied music. She was an accomplished pianist as well as a successful school teacher.

On October 18, 1880 she married Charles Albert Dixon of Blair. They, and their family, resided on a farm northwest of Blair for eight years. In 1888 they moved to Blair where they made their home until Mr. Dixon’s death in February of 1913, living on what is known as the Aye Bros. poultry farm.

She was a Christian mother, strong in her love of home and in her devotion and sacrifice for her children. She was an active member of the Methodist Episcopal church.

Mrs. Dixon is survived by four children: Mrs. A. N. Lund of Branson Missouri; Lloyd of Los Angeles; Howard of LaGrande, Oregon; and Harold of Wewoka, Oklahoma; three sisters: Mrs. Emma Davies of Lincoln; Mrs. Nellie Ailes of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and Mrs. Louise Peterson of Joliet, Montana; and nine grandchildren.

The body was brought to Blair where interment was made after a short service at the cemetery with Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen officiating.
