MRS. JOHNSON DIES AT WASHINGTON

Mrs. Jens C. Johnson, 71, of Washington, died Sunday morning of pneumonia. As Ane Kathrine Andersen, she was born at Hastrup on the isle of Sjaelland, Denmark, July 19, 1866, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She came to America when 22 years old to make her home with her sister, Mrs. Nels Andersen, near Washington, and was married to Mr. Johnson the following year. Since then Mr. and Mrs. Johnson had lived on a farm just north of the village.

Surviving Mrs. Johnson are her husband, two daughters, Mrs. Jorgen Christensen of Washington and Mrs. J.H. Schmeckpepper of Fremont; a son, J.C. Johnson, jr., of Kennard; and the sister, Mrs. Nels Andersen. There are eight grandchildren and other more distant relatives.

Funeral services were held at the Washington Community church last Wednesday, with the Rev. James N. Lund of First Lutheran church, Blair, officiating.

JOHNSON DIED SUNDAY Ane Kathrine JohnsOn, nee Andersen, was born at Hastrup on the island of Sjaelland, Denmark the 19th day of July 1866, where she was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. When she was 22 she came to America and made her home with her sister, Mrs. Nels Andersen, near Washington, Nebraska. In 1889 she was united in marriage to Jens Christian Johnson, and they made their home on a farm just north of Washington. Death came last Sunday morning as a result of pneumonia. She leaves to mourn her death her husband and three children: Mrs. Jorgen Christensen of Washington, Nebraska; Mrs. J. H. Schmeckpepper of Fremont, Nebraska; J. C. Johnsen, Jr. of Kennard and one sister, Mrs. Nels Andersen of Washington, together with eight grandchildren and cousins and other relatives in Winside, Nebraska and in Minnesota and California. Funeral services were held at Washington Community church Wednesday at 2 p.m. March 16th with Rev. James N.
