OTTO HANSEN PASSES AWAY JAN. 29TH

Resident of This County For Sixty Years. Born In Denmark

Otto Hansen, well known in this county where he has resided for nearly sixty years, passed away on Sunday, January 29th. He was a native of Denmark where he was born on September 13, 1859.

He came to this country in 1878, and for a time lived with his sister, Mrs. Hans Anderson of Argo, Nebraska. He was twice married, first to Miss Stine Jorgensen, who died in 1889, leaving a two weeks old daughter, now Mrs. George Neve of Ringsted, Iowa.

In 1890 he married Maren Andersen, and to this union six children were born, all of whom, except one, survive and mourn the loss of a kind and loving father. They are: Martin of Tilden, Nebraska; Louis of Blair; Henry of Wausa, Nebraska; Mrs. Christine Neve of Ringsted, Iowa; and Mrs. Albert Schjodt of Blair; also eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

For nineteen years he farmed near Admah, and in 1910 he moved to Blair where he has resided since. He has been very active in the work of the United Danish Lutheran church, serving for twenty four years as the treasurer of the church and also as a member of the Dana college board and on the local church board.

Of his character, too much cannot be said in praise. He was a man of deep convictions, and his sterling manhood made him a character well worth of emulation.

Funeral services were held from the home and later from the Danish Lutheran church in Blair on Tuesday, January 31 with Rev. J. P. Nielsen, Rev. H. Nielsen and Rev. N. C. Carlsen officiating, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

Pallbearers were the deceased’s three sons, Martin, Henry and Louis Hansen; his two sons-in-law, George Neve of Ringside, Iowa and Albert Schjodt of Blair; and Marius Goldbeck of Blair.

Out of town friends attending the funeral rites, besides the children, were Henry Andersen and daughter, Ruth of Argon; Rev. and Mrs. F. Rasmussen and Mrs. Tolstrup, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnson, all of Fremont; Rev. Laurits Pedersen of Harlan, Iowa; Rev. Petrussen of Neola, Iowa; Rev. M. Kirgegaard and Mr. and Mrs. Lillethorup of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pawling, Mr. and Mrs. Will Pawling, Mr. and Mrs. Hogermeyer, Mrs. Irene Miller, Mrs. Lillie Panning, all of Hooper; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Lang and Mrs. Hazel Thielfoldt of Herman; Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Adams of Tekamah and Rev. Knud Larsen of Laurel.
