OLD SETTLER DIED NOV. 15

Dennis Ackerman, 68, a well known farmer of Herman vicinity, passed away at his home Tuesday, November 15. He had been in failing health for some time. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church with Rev. A. W. Clarke officiating. Music was furnished by a male quartette, L. D. Long, Francis Forsberg, Fred Robertson and C. R. Gray with Mrs. Harley Rogert at the piano. Interment was made in the Herman cemetery.

Deceased was born at Pocahontas, Illinois February 17, 1830 (this should be 1870). At the age of seven he came with his parents to Nebraska, and located on a farm northwest of Herman where he spent the rest of his life. On November 21, 1893 he was married to Miss Effie Burton of Phillipsburg, Kansas. Two children were born to them, one son and one daughter. He is survived by the widow, the son, Melvin Ackerman of Herman, the daughter, Mrs. Vadie Kelly of Tekamah, one brother, Lennie Ackerman of Herman, two half brothers, John C. Ackerman of Omaha and Louis Ackerman of Klamath Falls, Oregon and one half sister, Mrs. Anna Hawkins of Klamath Falls, Oregon.
