George Bowen was found dead in bed in his room at Mrs. Fick's last Friday morning. He died between the hours of 3 o'clock a.m. and 7 a.m. as he had asked his room mates to call a doctor for him about 3 o'clock that morning as he was suffering considerable pain in his side, but the doctor called refused to come out and George told the boys to go back to bed as he would be all right soon. Deceased was about 54 years old and was a son of the late General Bowen, who came to this county from Pennsylvania in 1856. The funeral was held from Pierce's undertaking parlors Saturday afternoon and interment made in the Blair Cemetery.
