27 Oct., 1938 - The Enterprise Mrs. Lena Schroeder Behmer, an old settler of Washington county, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank Miller of Douglas, Nebraska at the age of 88 years, October 18. She came to Blair with her husband and children in the spring of 1884, later moving to a farm north of the German Hall where her husband, Dietrich Schroeder, passed away. In 1888 she was married to Detlev Behmer who resided on a farm west of Herman. After the death of Mr. Behmer in 1903, Mrs. Behmer made her home for a number of years with her oldest son, Adolph, later going to her daughter. Mrs. Behmer was born in the Probstie, Holstein, Germany on October 17th, 1850. She leaves three sons, Adolph of Omaha, Edward of Fremont, Nebraska, Charlie of Kimball, South Dakota and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Miller of Douglas, Nebraska; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
