VINSON J. SMITH DIES SUDDENLY

Vinson J. Smith, a former Blair resident, died suddenly last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Allen where he and his wife were visiting. Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Allen are sisters.

Deceased was born in Schoolcraft, Michigan July 18, 1857. He came to Blair in 1882 and in 1888 he was married to Miss Jessie E. Case.

For a long term of years he was employed in bridge construction work. He worked on a bridge at Memphis, Tennessee, and on a drawbridge at Fort Smith, Arkansas and at Omaha. He continued in the employ of the Chicago and Milwaukee railroad until 1910 when he moved to Red Elm, South Dakota where he took up a homestead. This has been his home since that time.

He had just returned from a visit to his old home in Michigan and was visiting here when the end came. He leaves besides the wife, one son, Zenos of Blair, and three grandchildren, Mrs. Kenneth R. Jensen of Minden, Nebraska; Vinson S. Smith and Gwenavere Smith of Blair.

Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from the St. Andrews church in Omaha, and interment was made in the Fort Calhoun cemetery where the Masonic order had charge.
