MRS. JAS. A. RHOADES

Mrs. James A. Rhoades of Blair passed away Friday, August 5, following an illness of less than a week’s duration at nearly 80 years of age.

As Miss Arilla Moatz she was born in Harrison county, Iowa December 5, 1858, and in that county she grew to womanhood and met and married James A. Rhoades in 1879.

The year following their marriage they moved to Blair, and this has been their home since that time. To them four children were born, Mrs. Flora Rowe at home with her mother, Levi M. of Carter, South Dakota; Everett C. of Wayne, Nebraska and Mrs. Lucille Moir of Emerson, Nebraska.

Over a year ago the husband passed away, and since then Mrs. Rhoades has been indeed lonely. she never recovered from the shock of the loss of the husband with whom she had met life for over half a century.

Gradually her grief with her declining years bore her down, and after enjoying her last Sunday in a family reunion at her home with her children doing all they could be make her happy, she took to her bed. Her desire to live had faded with the death of her husband, and the end came peaceably and she went as she had desired, to be with her husband who had preceded her.

Besides the immediate family she leaves five sisters and one brother besides other relatives who mourn her death.

The funeral services were held in the home in North Deterville on last Sunday at three o’clock, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery beside her husband.
