Funeral services for William H. Baker, former resident of this place, who died on Monday at his home in Sturgis, South Dakota, were held here on Wednesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Fred De Weber at two o’clock with the Rev. Thomas W. Parkin, pastor of the M. E. church in charge. Mr. Baker was born in Poplar Grove, Illinois on December 3, 1862; he was married to Amelia Ludwig of this place on April 10, 1892. Mr. Baker resided at Fremont at one time and was station agent here for the C. and N.W. Railway Co. He also was chief clerk to the master mechanic at Missouri Valley and was roundhouse foreman at Fremont. He was station agent at Sturgis, South Dakota for a number of years, and after he was pensioned he continued to reside there. Besides his wife, he is survived by six children, two having died in infancy. They are Balfour and Harold of Upper Darby, Pa.; May Nellie of Seattle Washington; George J. of Denver, Colorado; Don of Cheralis, Washington; Mrs. Kathryne Forbes of Sturgis, South Dakota and Mrs. Ida Roulette of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

During the services Miss Marian Menking and Mrs. Otto Renard sang a duet, and Mrs. Renard sang a solo. The pallbearers were C. C. Cook, George Schoetiger, Erwal Rosenbaum, Raymond Ludwig, Leo and Harold Weber. Among the out of town relatives and friends were Mrs. Forbes of Sturgis, South Dakota; Balfour Baker of Pennsylvania; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Ludwig and son, Floyd, Donald Ludwig, Mr. and Mrs. Oakes and two daughters, and Miss Edith Lease, all of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. C. Worley and son, Morris, and Mrs. John Hoff of Lincoln; Mrs. Ray Masters, Mr. and Mrs. C. C. Marshall, Mr. Eckles and Mr. Williams, all of Fremont and Mrs. A. E. Whitlow of Emmett.
