FRED PAULSEN DIES AT 42

YOUNG RETIRED FARMER DIED IN OMAHA HOSPITAL ON SATURDAY

In failing health a number of years, 42-year-old Fred T. Paulsen, retired Blair farmer, died Saturday at Immanuel Hospital in Omaha. He had retired from farming northwest of Blair in 1948 due to his poor health, since which time the family has lived at 301 East South St.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the home, followed at 2 p.m. by rites at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. H.C. Jorgensen officiated and burial, with arrangements in charge of the Bendorf Funeral Home, was in Blair Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Paul V. Hansen, Karl Christensen, Carl Rasmussen, Walter Nielsen, J.P. Nielsen and Ingvert Skobo.

Frederich Theodore Paulsen, son of Martin and Boline Larsen Paulsen, was born on a farm northwest of Blair Apr. 2, 1906. He was baptized and confirmed in First Lutheran Church. On June 5, 1935, he and Miss Winifred Nikolaisen of Moorhead, Ia., were married, and began farming on the Paulsen home place.

Mr. Paulsen was for a number of years deacon of First Lutheran Church, serving a short time as president. He also was a teacher in the Sunday School, and at one time directed a Sunday School at Summers School. He was a member of the board of Good Shepherd Lutheran Old Peoples' Home Association. Mr. Paulsen is survived by his wife, Winifred; two daughters, Marlene and Jeanette Paulsen, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Paulsen of Blair; four brothers, Harold, Raymond and Clifford Paulsen of Blair and the Rev. Clarence Paulsen of Neola, Ia.; and two sisters, Mrs. Edna Panum of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Dorothy Monteen of Omaha. A brother, Chris Paulsen, died in 1933.
