R. E. McCONNAHA DIED JUNE 12

Robert Emmett McConnaha, Sr., son of Dr. and Mrs. John McConnaha was born at the family home 5 miles north of Nehawka, Nebraska June 13, 1872 and departed this life June 12, 1938 at the age of 65 years, 11 months and 30 days.

In 1892 Mr. McConnaha moved with his parents from Cass county to Washington county. On February 3, 1897 he was united in marriage to Nancy E. Loftis. To this union were born 9 children, two of which died in infancy.

At an early age Mr. McConnaha united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Vacoma, Nebraska. Throughout his life he practiced in his home and community life the principles of Christ in whom he steadfastly believed. The church was a great source of comfort and inspiration to him in the last days of his life.

In 1903 Mr. McConnaha moved his family to Boydsville, Missouri. The next 19 years were spent in Boydsville, Guthrie and New Bloomfield, Missouri. In 1922 the family returned to Nebraska, and for the last 5 years Mr. McConnaha has lived at the present home 7 miles west of Herman.

Mr. MConnaha leaves the following immediate family to mourn his passing: his wife, Nancy E., two daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Staples of Herman, Mrs. Ashby Ball of Leavenworth, Kansas, five sons Mark and Wendell at home, Ray F. of St. Louis, Robert E., Jr. of Harvard, Nebraska and Richard L. of Grand Island, Nebraska, six grandchildren, three brothers a three sisters.

The brothers are: Elmer, Denver, Colorado; Ernest, Gordon, Nebraska and Earle of St. Louis, Missouri. The sisters are: Mrs. Mable Barker, Gordon, Nebraska; Mrs. Lulu Whitman of Ava, Missouri; and Mrs. Paula Van Valin, College Spring, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Alder Grove church with Rev. J. A. Miller officiating, and interment was made in the family plot in the Mt.Pleasant cemetery at Nehawka, Nebraska.

The pallbearers were his five sons and his son-in-law.
