AGED ARLINGTON WOMAN DIES HERE

SERVICES HELD AT ARLINGTON FOR MARS. ADA MORLEY, 81, A PIONEER

Mrs. Ada I. Morley, 81, early pioneer of the Arlington vicinity, died last Thursday morning at a convalescent home in Blair, where she had been for the past six months. She had been seriously ill about a week. With her late husband, A. Spencer Morley, she operated the Morley Inn, also known as the Halfway House near Arlington in the late 70’s, which for many years was a stopping place for overland passengers. The inn was located on what is not the Paul Lottman farm.

As Ada I. Hendicks, she was born April 22, 1857, In Muskegon, Michigan, and came to Arlington with her parents in 1874. She was married to Mr. Morley July 4, 1875.

Mr. and Mrs. Morley retired from farm life in 1919, moving into Arlington, where Mr. Morley died a few years later.

Mrs. Morley is survived by three sons, LeRoy of Norfolk, Claude of Lincoln and Harvey of Waterloo, Iowa; and a daughter, Mrs. Ethel Braithwait of Arlington. Two sons preceded her in death, one in infancy and the other, Glen, dying in France during the World War. There are 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren who survive the aged Arlington woman.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Braithwait at Arlington. The Rev. H.C. Van Valkenburgh of Arlington’s Congregational church officiating.
