JOHN E. TAYLOR PIONEER, DIES IN OMAHA WED.

Came to Omaha in 1865 When Nebraska Was a Territory

John E. Taylor, pioneer Nebraskan, passed away on Wednesday of last week in an Omaha hospital. He was born in Wisconsin in 1854, and when eleven years old came to Omaha where he lived until 1884 when he moved to Blair where the remainder of his life was spent.

In 1876 he was married to Miss Nancy Ann McDaniel, who with three sons, Frank of Blair and Walter and Lee of Omaha, survive him.

In his early life he was in the employ of the railroad company, and assisted in the construction of the first road bed from Omaha to Blair and north.

He was also connected with several saw milling projects and did much river work.

He was a member of the Maccabee and Modern Woodmen lodges, and was a constant attendant of the Christian church in early life.

His death was the result of a stroke which occurred on Monday, March 21.

Funeral services were held from the Campbellā€™s Mortuary last Saturday at 2 p.m., and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.
