MRS. HANS J. NIELSON

Mrs. Anna Nielson, wife of Hans J. Nielson, passed away at their home on College Hill west of Blair last Tuesday evening, March 8th, 1938. She was 47 years, eleven months and eight days of age.

Funeral services were held at the First Lutheran church at two o’clock Saturday afternoon. Rev. James N. Lund delivered a short impressive sermon, and James Hansen sang two selections. Her body was laid to rest in the Blair cemetery.

Anna Kristine B. Hansen, daughter of the late Mr. Hansen and Mrs. Neils H. Hansen, was born on a farm south of Kennard April 1, 1890. Here she spent her childhood and early girlhood and attended the local school. In her early teens she began doing housework for neighbors and in nearby localities. She followed this occupation later at Blair and in Fremont.

She was married to Hans J. Nielson of Blair, Nebraska on August 21, 1913. After a brief wedding trip to Michigan, they located at their present home where she resided until death. Mrs. Nielson was stricken with arthritis deformans about fifteen years ago, and at times suffered intensely. Her daughter, Roma, and son, Niels, together with her husband, were in constant attendance; and together they mourn her loss perhaps more than usual after this long vigil. Other survivors are a son, Leroy of Ellsworth, Kansas; a grandson; her mother, Mrs. Neils H. Hansen, Blair; two brothers, Albert B. and Christian B., both of near Blair; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Smith, Stanton, Michigan; Mrs. Bertha Fischer, Hollywood, California; Mrs. Dorthea Dolan, Arlington, Nebraska; and Mrs. Abigail Beerstrup, Blair; together with a host of other relatives.

Note: The spelling on her headstone is Nielsen.
