MRS. J. C. LUND PASSES AWAY

The Herman community was shocked to learn of the death of Mrs. J. C. Lund at her home at Salt Lake City, Utah, which occurred Saturday, February 19.

Miss Caroline Wachter, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wachter, was born December 23, 1869 at Blair, and died at her home at Salt Lake City, Utah Saturday, February 19, 1938, aged 68 years, 1 month and 16 days. The family moved to a farm near Herman when deceased was a child and where she grew to womanhood. She has spent practically all her life there.

When a young girl she united with the Presbyterian church at Bellevue, Nebraska. She has been a regular attendant at the Methodist church, and has been a faithful worker in the church and Aid society for many years.

She has been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1911, and served as treasurer for twenty years for the Herman chapter.

She was united in marriage to J. C. Lund of Salt Lake City October 1, 1937 at Independence, Missouri, and have made their home at Salt Lake City since.

She is survived by her husband, one brother Ben of Herman, eight sisters, Mrs. Anna Peddie, Mrs. D. H. Hansen, Mrs. James Van Horn, Mrs. G. O. Yowell and Miss Christene Wachter of Herman, Mrs. Bertha Neiderkruger of Lincoln, Mrs. Emma Hansen of Omaha and Mrs. Clayton Deaver of Gillette, Wyoming.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Herman Methodist church. Rev. A. W. Clarke officiating. The Order of the Eastern Star conducted their rites. Burial was made in the Herman cemetery.
