WM. STEEN OF ARLINGTON DIES

William Steen, Sr. died at his home in Arlington late Saturday afternoon following an illness which had extended over a year, although he had been confined to his bed only three days.

Mr. Steen had operated a restaurant and drink parlor in Arlington for 11 years. He was formerly a saloon keeper at Leigh until the prohibition law became effective, after which he was in the hotel and restaurant business, living at Laurel, Tekamah, Dixon and Elkhorn.

Mr. Steen was born in Schoenberg, Holstein, Germany in 1860, and came to America with his parents in 1879, coming directly to Omaha where he lived for a number of years, living part of that time on his farm on West Center street and later in the city where he operated a hotel and saloon. He was married to Louisa Kruger in Omaha on March 17, 1897, who with their two children, Mrs. Christine Paulsen of Belden and William, Jr. of Fremont, survive him. A brother, Carl Steen of Millard and five grandchildren also survive him.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock in the Arlington Congregational church, with the Rev. W. A. Samuelson of Omaha, assisted by the Rev. H. C. Van Valkenburgh.
