WILLIAM IVERSEN

William Iversen was born October 13, 1873 on the farm which his parents homesteaded about three miles west of Fort Calhoun. His pioneer father was the man who plowed the first furrow in Fort Calhoun having the only team of horses in town. Will or “Bill” as he was known to all, spent his entire life in this vicinity.

On March 23, 1898 he was united in marriage to Bertha Fischer. To this union two sons and two daughters were born.

He was a kind and loving husband and father, a good neighbor and highly respected by all.

He departed from this life on Sunday, January 16, 1938 at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 3 days. He leaves to mourn his departure his devoted wife, Bertha, daughter, Edna and son, Chris at home, daughter, Cilia Schneider and husband, son, Otto and wife, living on nearby farms, one grandchild, Jeannine May Schneider. Two brothers, Herman of Fort Calhoun, John of Plattsmouth, a sister, Mrs. Rose Cappelletti of Omaha, other relatives and many friends.

The funeral services were held from the residence Wednesday afternoon of last week, Rev. R. E. Donaldson officiating. Despite the bad roads nearly 300 friends assembled for the last rites. Interment was in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
