#1 January 27, 1938 - The Enterprise

MRS. FRED HOKAMP DIED THURSDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Hokamp who died at her home in Arlington on Thursday morning following a brief illness from pneumonia, were held on Sunday afternoon. A short service was held at the home at 1 o’clock, and the main service was held at 1:30 at St. Paul’s Lutheran church with the Rev. G. W. Wolter officiating. The church was completely filled with friends, and there were numerous floral offerings.

Mrs. Hokamp, as Ida Loosing, was born here on August 24, 1885, and grew to womanhood in the Arlington vicinity where she spent her entire life. She was united in marriage with Fred Hokamp on January 19, 1935, and the couple continued to reside on the farm where she had always lived. The Hartman choir, under the direction of Prof. O. Hartman, sang “Jesus Savior Pilot Me”. The pallbearers were Ernest Laaker, Julius Hansen, Henry Knecht, William Vogt, Fred Stork and Harry Schmidt.

Out of town relatives who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. William Loosing and daughter, Mildred, of Fremont; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Moravec and daughter, Miss Clara Kruger, of Genoa; Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Hokamp and daughter, Hilda, of Carroll, Mo.; and Mrs. J. R. Hokamp and Henry Hokamp of Norfolk; Mr. and Mrs. Jens Jensen of Laurel; and Mr. and Mrs. John Schram and son, Virgil, of Belden.

RITES SUNDAY FOR ARLINGTON WOMAN

LUTHERAN RITES FOR MRS. FRED HOKAMP, 52, WHO DIED THURSDAY

Victim of double pneumonia, Mrs. Fred Hokamp, 52, of Arlington died last Thursday morning after being ill only a few days. Hers was the third death in her family within three months. Her mother, Mrs. Louisa Loosing, died a few weeks ago, and her cousin, Mrs. Vivian Potter, succumbed a short time before Mrs. Loosing's death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hokamp were held at the family residence at 1 p.m. Sunday, followed by further services at 2 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran church north of Arlington. The Rev. G. W. Wolters officiated.

An only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Loosing, Mrs. Hokamp had spent nearly all of her life in the Arlington vicinity. She was married to Charles Esher, who died several years ago. About a year ago she was married to Fred Hokamp, who is the only immediate survivor. There are several more distant relatives
