Services held for Dorothy Froehlich

Funeral services were conducted on December 24th for Dorothy Froehlich, well-known Fort Calhoun resident, who passed away of a heart attack on December 22d. Mrs. Froehlich passed away just five days after her seventy-first birthday.

Rosary was said at Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home, and the funeral was at St. John’s Catholic Church, with Father Schwertley officiating. Reverend Doug Darnold assisted. Burial was made in Fort Calhoun Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Albert Suverkrubbe, Ted Maine, Stuart Freburg, Roland Husk, Ralph Given, and Jack Rathjen. Honorary pallbearers were Arnold Schmidt, Bud Lanouette, Bob McMillan, Opal Reeves, and Art Staben.

Mrs. Froehlich was born on December 17, 1913, in Fort Calhoun to Grace and Wally McMillan, and except for a short time in Illinois, lived her entire life in Fort Calhoun. In recent years she enjoyed working as a teacher’s aide in special education, and worked for many years at Rustic Inn and the Longhorn. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Arienne) Shipley and Mrs. Ronald (Diane) Schreiner of Fort Calhoun; and Mrs. Darrel (Betsy) Halford of Bennington, Nebraska; and a brother, Neil McMillan of Blair, Nebraska. Dorothy was preceded in death by two sons, Paul Froehlich and Roger Hass, and a daughter, Sandra Hass.
