Was a Resident of Blair, Nebraska for Twenty Seven Years

After a lingering illness of nearly seven months, Detlef Henningsen passed away at his home in north Blair last Tuesday noon, January 25.

Mr. Henningsen was born in Germany on August 1, 1858. When a young man of sixteen years, he came to America and settled in Clinton county, Iowa where for a number of years he worked for different farmers of that vicinity. Later he went to Sac county, Iowa where he rented land and farmed for himself.

He then went to Emerson, Nebraska, where he met and married Miss Bertha Sander in 1897, and where they continued to live until 1911 when they moved to Blair, retiring from active life.

To Mr. and Mrs. Henningsen four children were born, one passed away in infancy. Of the living Herbert lives in Van Nuys, California and Argo, another son, in Los Angeles, California and one daughter, Margaret, is in nurses training at Immanuel hospital in Omaha.

Deceased was a man held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. He was a member of the German Lutheran church, and never shirked his duty in any form.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the German Lutheran church, and interment will be made in the Blair cemetery.
