RITES HELD FOR H. C. HORN ON SATURDAY

Pioneer Settler. A Resident Since 1867. School Board Member

Henry C. Horn of the Thone school district died at his home on January 20, 1938 after having been in poor health for a number of years.

Deceased was born in Brammerau, Holstein, Germany on January 10, 1864. He with his parents came to Washington county in 1867 when he was three years of age. The family settled first in Fort Calhoun, where they resided for two years, and then moved to a homestead west of Herman where Mr. Horn grew to manhood.

About fifty two years ago he moved to the farm where he died, and he and his wife have resided there since. In his earlier years he took an active part in the civic interests of his neighborhood, and was for a number of years director of his home school.

He leaves to mourn his death, besides his wife, one son, Fred of Herman, two daughters, Mrs. Emma M. Beard and Inga T. Hawkinson, both of Omaha, one grandchild and a host of friends.

Mr. Horn was a man of sterling qualities, high ideals and integrity beyond reproach, and his friends were limited only to his acquaintanceship, and in his death the county has lost one of her best citizens and another of that honored band of pioneers.

Funeral services were held last Saturday at the Baptist church in Herman with Rev. Reese officiating, and interment was made in the Herman cemetery.
