HERMAN CITIZEN DIED MONDAY

John Wächter, aged 71, was born near Bellville, Illinois September 18, 1866, and died at his home in Herman Monday, January 17th.

When three years of age, the family came west and homesteaded near Herman. He has lived on the farm where he died for the past thirty two years. When his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wachter, moved to town twenty six years ago, he remained on the farm and has lived with his brother, Ben and wife.

Deceased has been a sufferer of rheumatism for a number of years, but had been ill and confined to his bed only a few weeks.

He has been a member of the Masonic lodge for more than twenty five years.

He is survived by nine sisters: Mrs. Anna Peddie, Mrs. D. H. Hansen, Mrs. James Van Horn, Mrs. Otis Yowell and Miss Christine Wachter, all of Herman; Mrs. Emma Hansen of Omaha; Mrs. J. C. Lund of Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Berth Neiderkruger of Lincoln, Nebr.; and Mrs. Clayton Deaver of Gillette, Wyoming. One brother, Ben of Herman, also survives.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2 o’clock at the Baptist church with Rev. A. W. Clarke of the local M.E. church in charge.
