Funeral services for David Ford, former resident of this place, who died in a hospital in Denver, Colorado on December 29th, were held here on Friday afternoon at the Congregational church, with the Rev. Van Valkenburgh officiating. Mr. Ford was born in Jamestown, Ohio on July 29th, 1884. In 1900 he came to Nebraska, first living in Douglas county, then moving to Washington county. After leaving this place, he went west and was married to Mary Nash. He was a member of the Masonic lodge at white Rock, Utah. A quartet composed of Vee Louise Marshall, Mrs. Howard Marshall, Harold Walkenhorst and Therlo Reckmeyer, sang “In the Sweet Bye and Bye”, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Abide With Me”. A daughter, Mary Jane of Klamath, Oregon survives; a sister, Mrs. Roy Johnson of Upton, Wyoming; also an aunt, Mrs. Amy Calvert of Elkhorn and two uncles, George Haney of this vicinity and John Haney of Gretna. Burial was made in the Arlington cemetery where his parents and brothers, Will and Minor are buried. Pallbearers were A. C. Boldt, C. C. Cook, Lawrence Hall, H. C. McClellan and Vern Wager.
