EARLY DAY SETTLER PASSES

Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, at the Blair Cemetery, for Mrs. W.G. Harrison’s mother, Mrs. J.H. Courtney, who passed away last Saturday, Nov. 9 at the Soldiers’ Home in Milford where she had lived for a number of years. Her husband passed away in 1924.

The deceased will be remembered by early settlers o Blair and Washington County at Mrs. John McGuire as she resided here in an early day with her husband and family.

She was born in Pennsylvania, eighty-six years ago last April 7 and came to Nebraska in an early day, going by steamboat to DeSoto and then to Cuming City where there was a settlement. Later they moved to Blair.

She is survived by her daughter as mentioned above and one son, O’Linn McGuire, postmaster at Benson, and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A number of relatives and friends from Benson attended the services, including her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Joe McGuire and three daughters, and a circle of friends, besides Blair relatives and friends.
