J.M. PARDUE, PIONEER, PASSES TO GREAT BEYOND

J.M. Pardue, a pioneer resident of Washington county, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H.A. Wentworth, near the Blair bridge, on September 21, 1916, at 6:15 a.m. of diabetes and infirmities due to old age.

Mr. Pardue was born in Surry county, North Carolina, June 2, 1836, and was married in the county where he was born on February 18, 1857. He came to Blair in March 1891, where he has continued to reside until called by death. Mr. Pardue leaves eight children to mourn his demise. They are Eli, of Aniwald, W.Va.; C.M., of Edwardsville, Kas.; Robert of Waldon, Colo.; Ephraiam, of Ft. Collins, Colo.; Newt of Nevada, Ia.; Mrs. Nancy Van Alstine of Portland, Ore.; Mrs. Jennie Gawer of Bassett, Nebr.; and Mrs. H.A. Wentworth, of Blair.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. C.M. Foremen from the Baptist church at 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon and the remains laid to rest in the Blair cemetery.
