MR. PAULSEN, 74, SUCCUMBS

NATIVE OF DENMARK, HE LIVED IN AND NEAR BLAIR MOST HIS LIFE

Martin Paulsen, resident of Blair and area most of his life, died Monday night at his home, 509 West Front St. Three of his six living children are Lutheran ministers.

The Bendorf Funeral Home announces that the funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, the Rev. H.C. Jorgensen officiating. Interment is to be in Blair Cemetery.

Mr. Paulsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Christoffer Paulsen was born Apr. 20, 1879, near Vejle, Denmark. When five years old he came with his parents to Iowa and shortly thereafter to Blair.

He and Lena Larsen were married May 11, 1904, and farmed on what is known as the former Clarence King place north of Blair, later on a farm seven miles northwest of Blair. The Paulsens retired in 1935 and moved into Blair.

Mr. and Mrs. Paulsen were the parents of nine children, one of whom died at birth. Two sons, Chris and Fred, preceded their father in death, Chris an 1934 and Fred in 1950.

Surviving Mr. Paulsen are his widow, Lena; four sons, Harold Paulsen of Blair; the Rev. Raymond Paulsen of Poy Sippi, Wis., the Rev. Clarence Paulsen of Kansas City, Kan., and the Rev. Clifford Paulsen of Oakland, Calif.; and two daughters, Mrs. Alfred Panum (Eda) of Oakland, Calif. and Mrs. Dale Monteen (Dorothy) of Lincoln. There are 17 grandchildren.

Also surviving are three sisters, Mrs. M.P. Hansen of Blair, Mrs. Peter Nielsen of Windom, Minn., and Mrs. John Hatting of Minneapolis. Preceding him in death were a sister, Mrs. K.P. Hundahl, and three brothers, Anton of Fort Dodge, Ia., Chris and Paul of Blair. Paul Paulsen died just a month ago.
