Frances Margaret (Schlines) Hallstrom, 82, of Wakefield, NE died on Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Wakefield Health Care Center in Wakefield, after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Wakefield; with Pastor Jill Craig officiating. The visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the Church with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Wakefield City Cemetery in Wakefield. Memorials are suggested to the Covenant Cedars Bible Camp (PO Box 68 Hordville, NE 68846). Arrangements are under the direction of Bressler-Munderloh-Smith Funeral Home in Wakefield.

Fran was born August 6, 1937, on the family farm to Clarence and Margaret (Lunz) Schlines. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Martinsburg, NE. Fran graduated from Wakefield High School in 1955. Fran worked most of her adult life for M.G. Waldbaum Company, a job that she dearly loved. Fran was married on April 1, 1955 to James Hallstrom at First Lutheran Church in Sioux City, IA. To this union four children were born: Randy, Lori, Lisa and Mike.

Fran enjoyed spending time outside gardening, cooking and camping. Fran dedicated a lot of her time serving on the board of directors for the Covenant Cedars Bible Camp from 2001 until 2008. She also loved the time she spent canning with her family and her two dachshund dogs, Koko and Sam. Since moving to the Wakefield Health Care Center her dogs have lived with her son Randy in Fremont. However, she has several stuffed puppies with her at the Care Center.

Fran’s laugh will be remembered by her children, Randy (Deb) Hallstrom of Fremont, NE, Lori Weir of Wayne, NE, Lisa (Val) Johnson of Pender, NE, and Mike (Hayley) Hallstrom of Pender, NE; 11 grandchildren, Jace Hallstrom, Jena Hallstrom, Eric Bevelhymer, Chris (Leanna) Bevelhymer and their two children, Trystan and Madison, Brindi Weir and Enzo, Brason Weir, Jamie Belt, Jesse Johnson, Asia Johnson, Michelle Hallstrom, Reanna Hallstrom; brother, Merle (Linda) Schlines of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Mardell Hallstrom of San Antonio, TX; nieces, Katie Hughes of Des Moines, IA, Karen Campbell (Todd) of San Antonio, TX; nephews, Aaron (Lori) Schlines of Chicago, IL, Scott Hallstrom (Veronica) of Havelock, NC, and Jeff Hallstrom (Kris) of Arlington, NE.

Fran was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents, Clarence and Margaret; sister, Myrna Schlines; brother-in-law, Verneil Hallstrom.

Congregational Hymns: “Amazing Grace, My Chains Are Gone”, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus”. Special Music: “Home” by Chris Tomlin; “Well Done” by The Afters. Musician, Connie Kruger.

Pallbearers: Eric Bevelhymer, Jamie Belt, Brason Weir, Chris Bevelhymer, Jesse Johnson, Jace Hallstrom

Honorary Pallbearers: Brindi Weir, Jena Hallstrom, Reanna Hallstrom, Asia Johnson, Michelle Hallstrom.
