CHRIS HINZ, WELL KNOWN FARMER, DEAD

CITIZEN HIGHLY RESPECTED. GIVEN POSTS OF CREDIT. MASTER FAMER

WAS COUNTY COMMISSIONER

Chris Hinz, well-known citizen, answered the death call on Wednesday morning after a lingering illness of many months. He passed away at his home on East Lincoln Street at the age of sixty years.

Deceased was born in this county in the Wranch school district on May 18, 1880, and came of pioneer parentage. On December 24, 1902, he was married to Miss Cora Spring and they moved to the farm south of Blair which he owned at his death. For forty-eight years he and his wife resided on this farm, gradually building it up into one of the most productive and one of the highest improved farms of the county. He was a real farmer which was evidenced when in 1931 he was awarded the honor of Master Farmer. He was not only honored for his ability as a farmer but his neighbors had faith in him and for eighteen years he served on the school board in the McCarthy school district, filling the office in an efficient manner.

In 1930 he was elected as county commissioner from this district which office he filled for eight years doing his duty in the same conscientious manner that marked his entire career.

Not only was he a good businessman but he took time for the duties of church and was a consistent member of the Methodist church, also of the I.O.O.F. and Modern Woodman lodges.

Besides the wife he leaves a son, Floyd who is now farming the home place, also one brother, Will, of Cripple Creek, Colorado, and two sisters, Mrs. Peter Schmidt of Minnesota and Mrs. George Ohrt of Calhoun. These mourn deeply his death and will miss his kindly advice as the years go by.

Funeral rites will be held Friday at 2:00 P.M. from the local Methodist church with Rev. R.P. Rasmussen officiating and interment will be made in the Blair Cemetery with Chris K. Bendorf as funeral director.
