Mrs. Cass Frye of Herman Dies

Mother of 12 Children Dies At 76; Services At Methodist Church

Mrs. Cass Frye, 76, mother of 12 children, of whom nine are still living, died at her home in Herman last Thursday.

Funeral services were conducted at the Herman Methodist Church Monday afternoon by Rev. A. W. Clarke of Arlington, formerly of Herman. Interment was in Herman Cemetery. Pallbearers were Waldo Hancock, Ray Kastl, Fred Ray, Gilbert Potadle, Clyde Metzler and George Litel.

Emily Frances Schaclett was born Oct. 30, 1870, near Modale, Ia. She and Casper Frye were married there Mar. 3, 1888. Mrs. Frye had been a member of the Methodist Church since girlhood.

Surviving Mrs. Frye are five sons, Claude, Robert, Carol and Ned Frye, all of Herman, and Dave Frye of South Bend, Wash.; and four daughters, Mrs. William Wright of South Bend, Wash., Mrs. Trude Bailey of Raymond, Wash., Mrs. Gene Freeman of Raymond Wash., and Mrs. Lylith Thompson of Herman. Three children died in infancy.

Also surviving are a brother, Howard Schaclett of Plainview, Neb., and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ashcraft and Mrs. Charles Loush, both of Missouri Valley, Ia., and Mrs. William Briggs of El Monte, Calif. There are 16 grandchildren, in addition to two killed during the recent war, and six great-grandchildren.

MRS. CASPER FRYE IS DEATH VICTIM

Emily Frances Schaklett was born near Modale, Harrison County, Iowa on October 30th, 1870, and died at her home in Herman on Thursday, April 25th, 1946, being 76 years, 6 months and 26 days old at the time of her death. She was united in marriage to Casper Frye on March 3rd, 1888 at Modale, Iowa, and to this union were born twelve children, five sons and four daughters are living. The daughters are Mrs. William Wright of South Bend, Washington; Mrs. Trude Bailey and Mrs. Gene Freeman, both of Raymond, Washington; Mrs. Lylith Thompson of Herman; and the sons, Claude, Robert, Carroll and Ned of Herman; and Dave of South Bend, Washington. Three children died in infancy.

Deceased leaves to mourn her loss, besides the five sons and four daughters, one brother, Howard Schaklett of Plainview, Nebraska; and three sisters, Mrs. Margaret Ashcroft and Mrs. Charlie Loush, both of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and Mrs. William Briggs of Elmonte, California.

Funeral services were held at the Herman Methodist church at 2:00 p.m. last Monday with Rev. A. W. Clarke of Arlington officiating, and interment was made in the Herman cemetery.
