Barbara J. Frye, 69

Barbara J. Frye, 69, of Blair, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Blair.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at First Lutheran Church in Blair. Interment will be in the Herman Cemetery.

Visitation will begin at noon on Tuesday, July 1, at Campbell-Aman Funeral Home in Blair, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 pm.

Barbara J. Colgan was born Nov. 6, 1938, in Blair to Ralph and Viola Mae (Sublet) Colgan. She graduated from Herman High School in 1956.

While she was growing up, she lived in Missouri, Oregon and Nebraska.

In September of 1957, she married Robert E. Frye Sr. They lived in Blair from 1957 until 1962, and lived in Herman from 1962 until 2004.

Mrs. Frye was a care staff member at Good Shepherd Home for 30 years, and retired in 2000. She was a member of the Herman Federated Church, the Herman Ding-a-Lings (the women’s firefighter organization), Order of the Eastern Star, and was a den mother for the Boy Scouts.

She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Debra and Roger Larsen of Herman and Gay Lynn Beadle of Chandler, Ariz.; sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph E. Frye of Chandler, Robert E. Frye Jr. and Teresa Frye of Blair; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters, Virginia Ladd of Blair, Betty Higgins of Omaha, and Charlotte Townsend of Herman.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, in February 1996; her parents; and a brother, Jack Colgan.
