The community was saddened by the sudden death of Mrs. John Autzen Tuesday morning at the Clarkson hospital in Omaha where she had undergone an operation the previous Friday.

Emma Schmidt, daughter of Mrs. Hans Schmidt, was born on the farm west of this place February 8, 1897 and was married to John Autzen February 5, 1919. After their marriage they lived on a farm west of town for several years, later moving to their present home east of town.

She is survived by her husband and two daughters, Margaret and Mildred, her mother, seven sisters, Mrs. Max Harder of Elkhorn; Mrs. Herman Schroeder of Purduna; Mrs. Fritz Japp of Kennard; Mrs. Ferdinand Wiese of Blair; Mrs. Herman Koepke of South Omaha; Mrs. Ernest Schmidt of Fort Calhoun; Edna at home; and two brothers, Ernest of Elkhorn and Harry at home. The funeral services were held Friday afternoon at the Presbyterian church; the Rev. E. L. Feyerherm of the Ponca church officiating. Burial was made in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
