RITES HELD FOR J. N HARRISON TUESDAY, OCT. 12

Pioneer Settler, Farmer, Grain Dealer and Stockman

J. N. Harrison, one of the best known characters in the county, died at the Emanuel Lutheran Home in Omaha on Thursday, October 9th.

Deceased was born in Wythwell, Virginia on January 4, 1856. He came to Nebraska in 1865 with his father, two brothers and two sisters, and settled on a farm south of Blair where J. N. grew to manhood.

In 1899 he purchased a farm in the New England neighborhood where he farmed for a number of years, and later moved to Herman. For years he was in the stock business, buying and selling stock and later in the grain business.

He was married October 5, 1910 to Louisa Ackerman at Papillion, Nebraska. He leaves, besides the wife, one sister, Mrs. Tom Dolan of Arlington and two nephews, Francis Dolan of Arlington and Warren Dolan of Lincoln and one niece, Miss Ada Harrison of California.

Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon and at the Methodist church at 2 o’clock. The services were conducted by Rev. A. W. Clarke, local pastor. Musical numbers were furnished by Miss Mildred Swanson, Miss Dagmar Olson, L. D. Long and J. H. Johnson with Mrs. J. H. Johnson at the piano. The pallbearers were Ben Wachter, Otto Christoffersen, L. D. Long, Ned Tyson, S. R. Lowe and A. H. Lowe.

Interment was made in the Herman cemetery.
