MRS. SAM STEVENS BURIED TUESDAY

Nelle Evelyn Stevens was born at Roseville, Warren county, Illinois February 27, 1878, the daughter of James A. and Martha Chase Harbaugh. She moved to Red Oak, Iowa at an early age where she spent her girlhood. She lived a good Christian life, and when a young girl joined the Methodist church at Hawthorne, Iowa.

She was united in marriage on Thanksgiving day, November 24th, 1904 to Samuel Stevens near Red Oak, Iowa. They moved to Tekamah, Nebraska, and in July of 1916 to Blair, Nebraska where they have resided since. To this union were born seven children, and Mrs. Stevens spent a deeply devoted life for them.

While Mrs. Steven’s chief interest was in her family, she was a loyal member of the Methodist church, and was much interested in the Ladies Aid.

For the past six months she had suffered with heart ailment, but her family felt that she was on her way to recovery. Friday night she suffered a relapse and passed away on Sunday morning at 8:15, September 26, 1937 with all her family at her bedside.

She leaves to mourn her demise her husband and seven children: Mrs. Clarence Arnold (Helen) of Blair; Mrs. Clarke Bassett (Alice); Mrs. Otto Kjeldgaard (Lillian); Mrs. Clarice Myers, all of Omaha; Elsie of Blair; William of Des Moines, Iowa; and Arthur of Omaha.

Also three sisters: Mrs. Sadie Lawrence of Grants Pass, Oregon; Mrs. Alice Vannansdle and Mrs. Will Buttenhof of Red Oak, Iowa and nine grandchildren besides other relatives and friends.
