Henry Frye

Arlington – Henry J. Frye, 77, of Arlington, died Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1993, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County.

Frye was born May 6, 1916, in Elkhorn, where he grew up. He moved to Arlington in 1934. He was a nurseryman and foreman for Marshall Nurseries at Arlington. He retired June 1, 1983, after 45 years there.

He was a member of Arlington Community Church, UCC, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, West Point Aerie, former member of Arlington Community Club and served on Whitford school board.

Frye married Bernice Hansen April 3, 1937, in Blair. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, James of West Point and Roger of Rapid City, S.D.; a brother, Virgil of Arlington; a sister, Dorothy Petersen of Wahoo; five granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Arlington Community Church. The Rev. Lee Milligan will officiate. Visitation will be 4 to 9 tonight and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, both at Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home and an hour before the service Friday at the church. Burial will be at Arlington Cemetery.

Memorials have been established to Arlington Community Church Access Fund or Arlington Rescue Squad.

Services for Henry J. Frye, 77, of Arlington who died September 28, 1993, at Memorial Hospital of Dodge County in Fremont were Friday, October 1, at the Arlington Community Church in Arlington. Rev. Lee Milligan officiated. Burial was in the Arlington Cemetery.

Henry J. Frye was born May 6, 1916, at Elkhorn, Nebraska. He grew up in the Elkhorn area and moved to Arlington in 1934.

He was a member of Arlington Community Church, a former member of the Arlington Community Club, had served on the board of Whitford School and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles at West Point.

He was a nurseryman and foreman for Marshall Nurseries. He retired June 1, 1983, after 45 years there.

He married Bernice E. Hansen April 3, 1937, at Blair.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Clara Widgery Frye; a son, Jerry; brothers, Jonas Frye and Lawrence Frye and a sister, Laura Decker.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; two sons, James of West Point and Roger of Rapid City, South Dakota; a brother, Virgil of Arlington; a sister, Dorothy Petersen of Wahoo; five granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.

Lon Johnson, Raymond Hansen, Larry Frye, Marvin Andersen, Fred Vrana and Darrell Hilgenkamp were pallbearers.

Keith Meier, Willard Meier, Gordon Spangler, Larry Echtenkamp, Leslie Sorensen, Dennis Decker, Don Johnson and Jim Mitchel wee honorary pallbearers.

Ruby House was organist. Melvin Misfeldt was soloist.

Reckmeyer-Moser Funeral Home in Arlington was in charge of arrangements.
