#1-17 June, 1937 - The Enterprise

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Clasen were held at the residence Saturday afternoon at three o’clock, and burial was made in the local cemetery. Anna Andreasen was born December 7, 1961 at Fahmen, Germany. She came to this country when about seventeen years old. About five years later she was married to Louis Clasen at Blair. They moved to Fort Calhoun in 1888, and the deceased spent the remainder of her life here. Mrs. Clasen was respected and well liked by all who knew her. She passed away at the covenant hospital in Omaha June 8 at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 1 day. Surviving Mrs. Clasen are three sisters, three brothers, two daughters, Mrs. Emma Richardson of Omaha and Mrs. Martha McAllister of Fort Calhoun; four sons, Henry, Arthur, Louis and Clifford; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.

MRS. ANNA CLASEN

Mrs. Anna Andreasen Clasen was born in Fahrmen, Germany December 7, 1861, died June 9, 1937. She came to America when she was 17 years old, and five years later was married to Louis Clasen in Blair on June 20, 1883. In 1888 they moved to Fort Calhoun where her husband operated a blacksmith shop until his death twenty five years ago. Mrs. Clasen is survived by four sons: Henry of Chicago; Arthur residing in Texas; Louis of Fort Calhoun; and Clifford of Omaha; and two daughters: Mrs. Emma Richardson of Omaha and Mrs. Martha McAllister of Fort Calhoun, three sisters, three brothers, five grandchildren and one great grandson.

During her fifty years residence in Fort Calhoun Mrs. Clasen had earned the friendship and respect of all, and her death is keenly regretted by the entire community.

The funeral services were held at the residence in Fort Calhoun Saturday afternoon where a large number of friends assembled in the house and on the lawn for the last tribute, a loud speaker carrying the message of Rev. R. E. Donaldson to all. The theme of the sermon was the “Christian Hope of Living, the Hope for the Dead and the Happy Uniting in the Hereafter.”

Interment was in the Fort Calhoun cemetery.
