ARLINGTON WOMAN DIES AT 90

Mrs. W. D. Badger, age 90 years, one of the oldest residents of Arlington, died at her home on Monday about noon following a short illness, being bedfast only about 10 days.

Margaret Mariah Mead was born in Minorville, N.Y. on January 14, 1847, and about seven years later moved with her parents to Michigan. On March 17, 1869 she was married to William D. Badger at Niles. Ten years later they left Michigan and came to the western part of Nebraska, locating at Sidney where Mr. Badger was bookkeeper for a freighting company. A year later they left there and went to Fremont. They resided there for about a year, and then moved to Arlington were they spent the remainder of their lives with the exception of several extended visits Mrs. Badger made in Lodgepole at the home of her sister after Mr. Badger’s death.

The Badgers held a prominent part in the early development of Arlington, Mr. Badger being connected with the first bank, a store, elevator and other local enterprises.

Mr. and Mrs. Badger both died in the home they had lived in for so many years, and where they celebrated both their silver and golden wedding anniversaries.

Mrs. Badger is survived by one son, O.D. Badger of Arlington; Mr. Badger, two sons, Ralph and James Clyde and two daughters, Berta and Georgia, having preceded her in death. One sister, Mrs. A.B. Persinger of Lodgepole, five grandchildren, Ralph Badger of Omaha, Loren and Dean Badger of Fremont, Clyde Badger of Denver, Colorado and Miss Margaret Badger of this place and three great grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock from the home, and were conducted by the Rev. H. C. Van Valkenburgh, assisted by the Rev. Ralph P. Rasmussen.
