MRS. E. V. NEWKIRK BURIED SUNDAY

Funeral services for Mrs. E. V. Newkirk who died at her home northwest of Blair Friday were held Sunday afternoon at the Bendorf Funeral Home in Blair, and were largely attended. The services were conducted by the Rev. T. J. Reese of Blair.

Mrs. Newkirk, as Laura Nielsen daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Nielsen, was born near here on September 1, 1879, and on January 27, 1898 was married to Mr. Newkirk. Her entire life was spent in this vicinity. For the past five years she had been ill and much of the last three years she had been confined to her bed.

The pallbearers were LeRoy Bisbee, Carl Carlsberg, Frank Rahlfs, Peter Thomsen, Simon Gnuse and Lars Jorgensen.

Burial was made in the Orum cemetery.

Besides her husband, she is survived by five daughters: Mrs. A. J. Skov, Mrs. Ted Buckhardt, Mrs. Alfred Anderson, Mrs. John Hart and Miss Hazel Newkirk; and one son, Raymond Newkirk. Also five sisters: Mrs. Vern Newkirk of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. Chris Petersen, Mrs. Jens P. Larsen, Mrs. J. P. Larsen and Mrs. J. P. Andersen, all of Blair.

Among the out of town relatives and close friends who attended the services were Mrs. Vern Newkirk from Minneapolis, Roy Petersen of Shelton and others from Omaha, Lincoln, Council Bluffs and Arlington.
