ANGELINE BRACKEN DIES IN OMAHA

Miss Angeline Bracken, 4913 Chicago street, teacher in Omaha schools 22 years, died Sunday night at Clarkson hospital where she had been ill the past five weeks. She had previously been in a Rochester, Minn. hospital for several weeks.

Miss Bracken’s most recent position was that of acting principal of Lathrop school the first semester. She had been principal of Monmouth Park, Lincoln, Druid Hill and Sherman schools, and eighth grade teacher at Dundee school. She was principal at Columbus, Nebr. from 1909 to 1915. She was born in Pennsylvania.

Miss Bracken graduated from the Blair High school in 1895, and for a term of years taught in the rural schools of this county and also in the Blair city schools.

Miss Bracken received her Bachelor of Science degree from the old Fremont Normal in 1907. She had studied also at Municipal university of Omaha and the University of Chicago. She was a member of the Elementary School Principals club, the Teachers’ Forum and the women’s division of the Chamber of commerce. Three sisters of Miss Bracken also are Omaha teachers. They are Miss Ora at Comenious school; Miss Ruth at Saunders school; and Miss Helen at Clifton Hill schools. Also surviving are three other sisters: Mrs. Agnes Clark and Miss Clara, Omaha; and Mrs. Mabel Sylvis, Blair, Nebraska; and three brothers: Charles, Norfolk, Nebraska; Thomas, Emerson, Nebraska; and Stanley, Chicago, Ill.

Funeral services were held at the Burket mortuary in Omaha at 4 o’clock p.m. Wednesday, and interment was made in the Blair cemetery.

ANGELINE BRACKEN BURIED IN BLAIR

VETERAN OMAHA TEACHER, 59, FORMER BLAIRITE, DIED SUNDAY

Miss Angeline Bracken, 59, veteran Omaha teacher and former resident of Blair, died Sunday in a hospital there after an illness of five weeks. She had only recently returned from a Rochester, Minnesota hospital.

Native of Armagh, Pennsylvania, Miss Bracken was born in 1878, and came to Blair in early life. She was graduated from the old Fremont Normal in 1907 and also studied at the Municipal University of Omaha and the University of Chicago.

After teaching several years in the Blair city schools, Miss Bracken served in Columbus from 1909 to 1915 as principal and then went to Omaha, where she had been principal of Monmouth Park, Lincoln, Druid Hill, Sherman and Lothrop schools. She had not taught in recent months because of her illness.

FREQUENT VISITOR HERE

Miss Bracken was well-known in Blair, having visited here on frequent occasions with relatives and friends.

She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Mabel Sylvis of Blair, Miss Ora Bracken, Miss Ruth Bracken and Miss Helen Bracken, the latter three Omaha grade school teachers. There are three surviving brothers Stanley of Chicago, Thomas of Emerson, Nebraska, and Charles, Norfolk.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, at 4 p.m. from the Burket chapel in Omaha, many friends from Blair and Omaha being present.

Interment was in Blair cemetery.
