Alonzo A. Metzinger was born September 4, 1861 at Iowa City, Iowa, and died March 14th, 1937 at Kelliher, Minnesota at the age of 75 years, six months and 11 days.

Mr. Metzinger came to Nebraska in 1887, locating in Blair. He was married July 31, 1888 to Josie E. Beagle of Blair. To this union was born seven children, two of whom died in infancy.

Surviving him are his widow, three sons, Alonzo J. of Kelliher; Ralph of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and Edgar of Chicago. Two daughters, Edythe of Kelliher and Mrs. W. J. Eastland of Lucas, S.D. There are ten surviving grandchildren, a brother, Myron of Blair and Marion of Finland, Minn., and a sister, Mrs. Cy Anderson of Florence.

Coming to Blair in 1887 Mr. Metzinger served as a contractor for many years. In 1904 he left Blair to homestead near Burke, S.D., residing there ten years and then moving to Minnesota where he remained during the rest of his life.

He was an active member of the Knights of Pythias, Royal Neighbors and Modern Woodman, being a member of the latter lodge at the time of his passing.

The body was brought to Blair, his old home, for interment, and funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday from the Bendorf Funeral Home with Rev. T. J. Reese officiating.
